Engineer Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform at StarTree

Senior software engineer designs and owns distributed systems problems for a real-time analytics database platform, focusing on performance, reliability, and scale.

Senior Posted 11 minutes ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

At StarTree we’re a group of passionate individuals that desire to improve the lives of many by developing tools and technologies that support availability and speed in the world of real-time analytics.

Our aim is to make it simple for every company to delight their users - external and internal - and create new revenue streams from their data, by building the world’s most comprehensive and accessible cloud analytics system.

Team and Responsibilities

Apache Pinot is a distributed analytics database built for real-time applications at massive scale. It powers mission-critical workloads at companies including Splunk, Meesho, CrowdStrike, Together AI, and Charter Telecom, where milliseconds matter and scale is measured in millions of events and tens of thousands of queries per second.

CrowdStrike processes up to 120K events/sec and serves 25K queries/sec; Together AI analyzes billions of LLM token events per hour with sub-second latency; and Charter Telecom operates Pinot at an ingestion scale of 120M events/sec. These aren’t just benchmarks—they are production systems powering real customer experiences.

At StarTree, you’ll work on the distributed systems behind this scale—solving hard problems in performance, reliability, concurrency, and data infrastructure. You’ll have the opportunity to make an impact from day one, take ownership of meaningful problems, and grow rapidly in a high-ownership startup environment.

You Will

  • Own and drive impactful distributed systems problems end-to-end, from inception through production launch.
  • Collaborate with a strong engineering team to identify and prioritize the most impactful problems and projects for the company.
  • Raise the quality bar across engineering while helping keep our systems reliable and operationally lean.
  • Mentor and grow engineers while learning from experienced, battle-tested engineers around you.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong distributed systems fundamentals and experience solving problems at scale. Our platform is Java-based, so Java experience is a plus, but not a hard requirement.
  • Bias toward execution — able to take an idea from concept through implementation and deliver it to production.
  • Deep ownership of quality and customer experience, with a strong focus on reliability, observability, performance, and ease of use.
  • Adaptability and flexibility — willing to take on whatever is most important for the company and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Curiosity, positivity, and resilience — comfortable navigating ambiguity and uncertainty while maintaining a constructive, problem-solving mindset.

AI-First Mindset - Comfortable using AI tools in everyday engineering workflows and eager to continuously learn and integrate AI into how you build, debug, test, and solve problems.

Engineer Senior Automation Engineer (remote work) at CloudLinux

Senior engineer builds and maintains infrastructure automation systems, API integrations, and data workflows across cloud platforms using Python and AWS.

Senior Remote Posted 13 minutes ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

CloudLinux builds Linux infrastructure and security products. You will join our Automation & Management Services cell, working closely with Dmitrii Petrov to solve problems across teams and services: cloud-cost data, infrastructure inventory, network policies and capacity workflows.

Check out our website for more information https://cloudlinux.com/

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join the Infrastructure team. You will independently own agreed outcomes—from clarifying the need with engineering teams, Finance or Security to delivering and operating a useful system. The work includes new development, improvements, repairs and maintenance. There is no traditional on-call rotation; you respond to alerts from your own systems during working hours.

What you will do

  • Turn an incomplete brief into an agreed result and workable plan. Track cross-team dependencies, explain tradeoffs, raise blockers early and communicate changes to estimates. Confirm completion with the users.
  • Build maintainable software and cloud/infrastructure API integrations. Handle credentials, pagination, retries, partial failures and repeated execution so unattended workflows remain safe and reliable.
  • Transform billing, usage and inventory data into repeatable outputs. Reconcile totals and periods, apply agreed allocation rules and make missing or uncertain mappings visible.
  • Extend inventory, network-policy and capacity automation using existing systems. Retain necessary human decisions and verify the operational result.
  • Deliver changes through version-controlled code and CI. Understand live state, test recovery and release safely; diagnose failures across code, Linux, APIs, data and networking.
  • Own monitoring, actionable alerts, documentation and maintenance. Leave systems another engineer can operate, and use coding agents while remaining responsible for design, code, tests and outcomes.

Must have

  • Senior-level experience, typically 5+ years in software, infrastructure, platform or automation engineering. You can explain your own design decisions, implementation and operational results.
  • Strong production Python, software design, testing, debugging and API integration skills. You can understand unfamiliar code and improve existing systems.
  • Hands-on AWS experience and solid Linux/networking fundamentals, including diagnosis across host, service, network and cloud boundaries.
  • Practical SQL and data validation: joins, units, periods, ownership mappings and reconciliation. You distinguish evidence from assumptions.
  • Safe infrastructure delivery through IaC and CI: state, drift, idempotency, dependencies and rollback, using tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.
  • Demonstrated advanced coding-agent workflows for real engineering tasks. You plan and delegate substantial work, supply context, run agents without continuous supervision within defined permissions and stop conditions, and independently explain, debug, test and verify their output.
  • Autonomous delivery and clear collaboration: investigate problems, obtain decisions, challenge unsafe or unnecessarily complex approaches and follow through. English B2 or higher for technical discussions, written decisions and internal customer communication.

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud billing or FinOps tooling (e.g. AWS CUR/FOCUS, Athena), inventory or event-driven integrations (e.g. NetBox or similar), network policies, flow monitoring, identity and access management, capacity tooling, additional cloud platforms, OpenNebula, Kubernetes, Go, or self-service systems.
  • Our environment includes Python, Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, GitLab CI/CD, Grafana, and related observability tools. Prior experience with every tool or domain is not required. We value the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies, products, and internal business rules.

What’s in it for you?

  • A focus on professional development.
  • Interesting and challenging projects.
  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours, which allows you to schedule your day and work from any location worldwide.
  • Paid 24 days of vacation per year, 10 days of national holidays, and unlimited sick leaves.
  • Compensation for private medical insurance.
  • Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement.
  • Budget for education.
  • The opportunity to receive a reward for the most innovative idea that the company can patent.

By applying for this position, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy (https://cloudlinux.com/candidate-privacy-notice), which provides detailed information on how we maintain and handle your data.

Our vision is that in Notebooks users can collaborate with each other and with AI agents seamlessly.

We are looking for a product-oriented Senior Software Engineer to help build the AI-assisted workflows that are becoming central to how customers use Notebooks. In this role you will work closely with product and design, and own platforms for analysis workflows and context discovery. • Build experiences that enable Datadog capabilities to operate within third-party AI platforms, agents, and conversational environments
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship while helping establish AI engineering best practices
  • Own production systems: Build and operate reliable backend services that run in the critical path of customer deployments, and be on-call for those services

Who You Are

  • You have experience building reliable systems that manage model non-determinism through evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, and operational excellence

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:
